This large Moldavite marquis facet has a deep olive-green color and numerous minute gas bubbles of various sizes as well as natural inclusions of lechatelierite, an amorphous pure form of SiO2 which easily identifying it as an authentic Moldavite.
Lechatelierite is the telltale sign of authentic Moldavites and impossible to fake. These inclusions appear as distinctive elongated transparent fluvial spirals and wormlike fibers. Lechatelierite was formed during the intense heating of the host rock after impact millions of years ago when Moldavite was first formed. All of our Moldavite gems are cut in house by our lapidary expert and are sourced directly from the Czech Republic from an exclusive locality.
Moldavite was formed during a celestial event some 15 million years ago. A huge astroid estimated to be around 1 km in diameter struck southern Germany and formed what is today known as Ries Crater. Moldavite is known as the stone of transformation, a catalyst to inspire positive change and elevate one’s consciousness.
