glowing aqua chalcedony

AQUAPRASE

Origin & Physical Properties

Aquaprase is a newly discovered gemstone variety of chalcedony with vibrant bluish-green color  and comes from a non-disclosed location in Africa. It was discovered by gem explore Yianni Melas in 2013 but despite being on the market for several years,  it is incredibly difficult to find.

Chrysoprase is a silicate mineral an the unique color is caused by tiny inclusions of Nickel silicates that refract the light. A combination of Chromium, Nickel and Zinc contribute to the unique powder blue- to bluish green color spectrum. Because Aquaprase is a chalcedony, it is hard, durable and lustrous, ideal for jewelry making.

Arkadia sources and cuts our own Aquaprase from the highest quality of rough. Our Aquaprase jewelry exhibits some of the finest Aquaprase available. So far, we’ve managed to acquire 15 kg of premium quality rough which we’ve polished into an exceptional reserve of vibrant Aquaprase gems!
